  • Responsible AI for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing

    November 6, 2025

    #GoodforMEdia Youth Leaders played a key role at the Stanford Responsible AI for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing. Kareem, Audrey and Nancy were youth panelists sharing their lens around AI and the ways it can be harnessed for good, while providing insight on the precautions that should be noted by both young users and platform designers. Katy and Zenia led tiny-mic interviews with youth attendees and industry professionals alike to gather their perspective on generative AI’s direction and capture their strategies for balanced approaches to using AI. Thanks to the Stanford Department of Psychiatry or Center for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing for inviting us to this convening.

  • Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health Auxiliaries Endowment

    Our #GoodforMEdia Youth Leader, Katy, had the honor of attending the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health Auxiliaries Endowment celebration. Representing #GoodforMEdia in a fireside chat with Dr. Mary Leonard, Chief of Pediatrics for Stanford Medicine, and our co-founder, Vicki Harrison, Program Director of the Stanford Center for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing, Katy shared how the Endowment has helped propel our efforts to support youth navigating today’s digital world. We are deeply grateful to the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health and the Auxiliaries Endowment for their support and dedication to our work.

  • Tech-X: A Mental Health and Technology Immersion Experience

    #GoodforMEdia attended and facilitated an interactive workshop at Tech-X, a dynamic one-week program designed to immerse youth in the crossroads of mental health and technology. Our youth leaders guided high school participants through engaging activities focused on tech policy, media’s impact on mental health, and product design. Participants also explored our Conversation Cards, sparking meaningful discussions. We enjoyed spending the afternoon sharing our perspectives with our peers!

  • Belmont’s Teen Wellness Retreat

    March 29, 2025

    #GoodforMEdia facilitated a workshop on “Supporting Healthy Engagement with Technology and Social Media” at the Teen Wellness Retreat in Belmont. They enjoyed connecting with local youth around their experiences with tech and how to build healthier relationships with it.

  • International Association for Youth Mental Health (IAYMH) Conference

    March 17-21, 2025

    #GoodforMEdia went international! Our youth representative, Selena, along with our co-founder, Vicki Harrison, had the opportunity to share #GoodforMEdia’s ongoing work at the International Association for Youth Mental Health Conference (IAYMH). In their presentation they discussed the impact of social media on youth mental health, emphasizing the importance of peer-to-peer mentoring to promote healthier relationships with digital platforms.

  • #GoodforMEdia workshop for the Museum School

    March 7 & 11, 2025

    #GoodforMEdia’s Youth Leaders facilitated a virtual parent workshop, along with two youth workshops at San Diego’s Museum School. Our team shared tips and strategies for supporting teens’ online experiences, using our Parent Guide as a resource. We really enjoyed learning from the middle school students and hearing their perspectives on social media and technology use.

  • #GoodforMEdia at Gunn High School

    #GoodforMEdia Youth Leaders Kareem and Riley led a workshop at Gunn High School’s Wellness Center. They offered a few interactive activities for participants to reflect on their social media use. Our team enjoyed seeing the Conversation Cards in action and youth pondered possible social media design changes they’d like to see.

  • allcove Network Conference: Reimagining Youth Mental Health

    #GoodforMEdia Youth Leaders were honored to present at the third allcove network conference! During their workshop, “Supporting Healthy Engagement with Technology and Social Media with #GoodforMEdia,” they led a thoughtful discussion on the impact of social media on our mindsets and daily lives, and how to better support our peers.

  • #GoodforMEdia Media Literacy Week Campaign

    October 21-31, 2024

    We hosted our first Media Literacy Week Campaign, in alignment with the National Association for Media Literacy (NAMLE) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to highlight the power of media literacy education and its essential role in navigating the complex media landscape. Youth had the opportunity to engage in a series of challenges to help strengthen their media literacy.

    #GoodforMEdia Youth Leaders attended and hosted a workshop at the Teen Mental Health Youth Summit. They appreciated the opportunity to connect with the community and share their strategies for helping youth thrive academically, socially, and mentally.

  • #GoodforMEdia Maker Day: The Future of Social Media: By Youth, for Youth

    Maker Day took place on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 3:30-6:30pm at allcove San Mateo. This special event invited young people, ages 13-22,  to come together and share about the ways they navigate the online world.

    #GoodforMEdia’s Vicki Harrison served as an expert panelist for “Looking Back and Moving Forward: Children’s Pandemic Experiences and Where to Go From Here”. This interdisciplinary panel of experts discussed the physical, mental, and social impacts of Covid-19 for young people and provided advice to support youth through the next phase of the pandemic.
